This is a memorial erected in 1981 by the descendants of Guilford H. and Martha Ann Gulledge. Please see the burial site of William Hubbard Gulledge here.

William Hubbard is buried with his first wife, Sarah Jane Tarlton, on their old farm off Highway 742 north of Chesterfield, between the state line and Casons Old Field in Anson County, N.C. William married a second time on November 18, 1870 to Nancy Williams of Anson County, N.C. Nancy is buried in the nearby Williams Cemetery.

William Hubbard "Bill" Gulledge, born about 1803, was a son of William Hood Gulledge and his wife, Lucy (maiden name unknown). William Hood Gulledge was referred to as "Hood" Gulledge in several records, to distinguish him from the other William Gulledges then in Anson County.

Information on this family is from an unpublished typescript, "William Hood Gulledge of Anson County, North Carolina and his Descendants" by Marie Gulledge Wiggins, as well as much additional information from her research and memories.
