Roland Adams, a preacher for almost 50 years, died of cancer April 9. He was 78. Adams was born in Obion County, Tenn., and married his wife, Elsie, in 1943. He preached his first sermon in Dorina, Mo., in 1951. For the next 43 years he preached in congregations in Tennessee, Michigan, Missouri, Kansas, Louisiana, North Carolina and Mississippi. He helped establish the church in Lumberton, N.C., and worked there for more than 25 years. Ill health forced his retirement in 1994, but he spent the next two years serving the church in Hickory Flat, Miss. Obion County, Tenn. --- Gospel Advocate, July, 2000, page 41.
