ALLEN, Lois Ann 74, of Lancaster, died at her home surrounded by her loving children on September 17, 2009, after a 10 month battle fighting metastatic melanoma. She was the wife of the late Clyde Burton Allen. Born in Portland, Oregon she was the daughter of the late John and Marge Wilkerson, who for years owned the Quartz Hill Corner Market where Mrs. Allen worked as a young woman. Mrs. Allen had also worked as a facilities analyst for Boeing Aircraft for many years before retiring in 2005. Since her retirement, she enjoyed traveling the country visiting her children and
grandchildren, and was often seen at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale cheering on her grandson, driver Travis Motley. She is survived by her children, John Allen and wife Mary of Lancaster, Tom Allen and wife Robbin of Newtown, Conn., Kathy Motley and husband Dave of Tucson, Ariz., Janice Bartell and husband Rick of Ventura, and a brother Kelly Wilkerson and wife Sue of Lancaster. Her grandchildren and "bonus" grandchildren include Megan, Justin and Ashley Allen of Lancaster, Catee Bartell of Ventura, Travis Motley of Tucson, Montana Allen of Punta Gorda, Fla., Keith, Kevin, Kristi and Kyle Bartell all of California, Eric Motley of Laguna Nigel, Dawn Motley Manhart of Plano, Texas and Kelsea Morshuk of Newtown, Conn. A Memorial Service to celebrate Mrs. Allens life will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at the Chapel of the Valley, 1755 East Avenue R, Palmdale.
