John A.TIMS,87, of 794 Oxford St.Belvidere,a former member of the Independent School Board, died this morning at his home after a long illness.Mr.TIMS was employed 31 years by the Lehigh and Hudson Railroad,retiring in 1945,He installed and maintained automatic signals.
Born in Warren County he was a son of the late Ellis and Susan SWAYZE TIMS.He resided in the Great Meadows area 40 years,moving to Belvidere in 1951.Mr.TIMS and his wife,the former Linda M AYERS, observed their 60 wedding anniversary May 5,1965
He was a member of Vienna Methodist Church and the official of the church.Survivors include a son Howard of Washington,NJ: a sister Myra, wife of Lewis HART,Hackettstown; a grandson and great-granddaughter daughter Lillian M TIMS,died in19?0.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m.Saturday at the MacFadden Funeral Home Belvidere.

The funeral of John A.TIMS who died Wednesday at his home,794 Oxford Street,Belvidere,was held this afternoon in the McFadden Funeral Home,Belvidere,The Rev.H.F.VonDreely of the Vienna Methodist Church, and the Rev.Donald WALTON assistant pastor of the United Presbyterian Church Belvidere officiated,Interment was in Pequest Union Cemetery,Great Meadows,The pallbearers were Fleming MORGAN,Charles ALMER,Lester GOBLE Jr,and Earl Harris
