Obituary of Mabel Malinda Watson Greene
It is with a sadness we note the death of our beloved sister, Mabel Malinda Greene. She was born on October 10th, 1827 and died August 10, 1909. She was a daughter of Elihu Watson. She professed a hope in Christ and joined the Stony Fork Baptist Church in the year 1844. She married John Riley Greene, October 10th, 1844, which union blessed with 14 children. 8 boys and 6 girls. Seven boys and 4 girls are living -- one boy and two girls passed over into the Spirit Land before their mother. She was a kind wife and good mother. Kind to everyone, especially to children, so that all who knew her loved her. She lived a consecrated Christian life, and died in the triumph of the faith. She selected the ministers whom she wanted to preach her funeral. May the Stony Fork Church lovingly remember sister Greene. The will think of mother as never before, now she is gone. Death Father Greene, who is tottering on the staff, so lonesome and lonely, will remember that the separation will not be long -- that he will soon follow on and meet his beloved companion over on the Celestial Shore where parting will be no more. There was a real lustre shining from her heart that all the good and true of God's children loved. We should all emulate her true Christian life. And now as our Dear Sister has bid us farewell.
No more on earth dewell:
our loss indeed does seem so great.
Far more than we have language to relate.
But when we think where she is gone,
and think of the at bright Ransomed Throng.
It makes us strive and sincerely pray,
that we may meet her there someday.
