SALEM - David Lee Anderson, age 61, of 583 East Fourth Street, Salem died at 12:35 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Salem Community Hospital. He was born August 31, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Paul Harry and Gloria (Altomare) Anderson.
David was employed as a machinist at Colfor Manufacturing. He was a 1965 graduate of Edwin Denby High School in Detroit, Michigan and a member of the U.A.W. Local. He enjoyed bow hunting, cooking and was a great storyteller.
Mr. Anderson served with the U.S. Marines and was a decorated Vietnam Veteran.
He is survived by a daughter, Tonya (Darryll) Griffiths of Poquoson, Virginia; two sons, Scott Mark Anderson of Glendale, California and Daniel James Anderson of the state of Washington; Dale Lynn (Mercedes) Anderson of Newtown, PA; and Teresa Anderson.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with full military honors provided by the Salem V.F.W. Post 892 and the Salem AMVETS Post 45 Burial Group. Burial will be at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Virginia.
