MARATHON — Sam D. Adams, 88, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at his home in Marathon.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Marathon Cemetery directed by Alpine Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Adams was born June 25, 1921, in Marathon to Ida Mae and Sylveston Adams. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Texas Highway Department for 39 years.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Adams of Marathon; a daughter, Carolyn D. McColliston of Ben Wheeler; a brother, Melvin J. Burke of Beloit, Wis.; one grandson, Charles D. McColliston III of Ben Wheeler; and two great-grandchildren.
