C. E. Hill, 57, member of city council during R. P. DeVans administration as mayor, died late last night at his home on Delaware avenue.

Angina pectoris, with which he had suffered for two years, complicated by an attack of pneumonia about two weeks ago, caused Mr. Hill's death.

Mr. Hill was born at Philoath, Putnam county, and was reared on a farm. He was married on May 24, 1901, to Miss Cora B. Parsons, by whom he is survived.

He moved to Charleston in 1907 and was employed by the Charleston Interurban Railroad company. He later served as a captain of police and became associated with the Prudential Insurance company in 1918.

He was a thirty-second degree Mason, member of Humphreys Memorial M. E. Church, south, and was active in the I. O. O. F. and Knights of Pythias lodges.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by two sons, Dr. Hansford Hill, dentist, and D. D. Hill. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

HILL RITES
Last rites for C. E. Hill, 57 years old, retired insurance man and former city councilman, who died of pneumonia late Saturday night after an illness of two weeks, were conducted at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Humphreys Memorial church. Rev. B. C. Gamble, assisted by Rev. Luther Price, officiated. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial park.

Active pallbearers were: Harry Adams, Wilbur E. Perry, H. F. Cunningham, J. H. Abbot, Brooks Tallman and S. P. Richmond.
