The woman who became Joseph Brown second wife and the stepmother of his children on 28 March, 1843, was 20 years old Magdalena Charotte Schildknect, know as "Lenah." The couple had four additional children Joseph was widowed for the second time When Lenah died on 6 January, 1874.
Children of second marriage:
(1) Sophia Brown (1844-1911), named grandmother and who John T. Hildbrand (1829-1923.
(2) Sarah E. (1848-1898), called "Sallie," who, 1879, at the age of 31, married Peter R. Langdon (1859-1920. They had five children.
(3) Arbelon (1851-1919), who married Dr. C.W. Harper (1838-1909.
In 1878 Joseph married third wife wife, 35-year old Lugenia Routzahn (1843-1915).
Joseph Brown was merchant, a member of Frederick, Fredeick County, MD. School Board, founder and director of Myersville, Frederick County, MD., Savings Bank, and founder of the Lutheran Church, Myersville. He run his mercantile business until 1902 at the age of 93, when failing eyesight forced him to retire.

In 1878 Joseph Brown married (third) Lugenia Routzahn.

(3) Charles A. Brown married Clara M. maiden unknown.
