Donald F. Nieweg, 83, of Clayton, NY, formerly of New London, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, NY.
He was the husband of the late Ellen L. Rowlee Nieweg, with whom he had shared 52 years of marriage.
Born in Lincoln University, he was the son of the late Ernest P. and Ella W. Crowl Nieweg.
Donald was a self-employed bricklayer and stone mason in New London. He was also employed with the DuPont Co. in the maintenance department. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of New London Lodge #545 F.&A.M.
He is survived by one son, Stephen C. Nieweg of Newark, DE; two daughters, Vanessa N. Horstead and her husband, Craig of Newark and Lora A. Stopper and her husband, John F. "Jack" of Clayton, NY; four grandchildren; and three sisters, Velma Wilson of Landenberg, Marguerite Rector of New London and Ella Luff of Chesapeake City, MD.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter, Karen J. Nieweg; one brother, Fred L. Nieweg; and two sisters, Beatrice Thomas and Muriel Thomas.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16 at the New London United Methodist Cemetery, State Rd., New London, PA
Relatives and friends may call from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Edward L. Collins Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Pine St., Oxford.
