Betty Jean Dailey, 86, of Bartonville, formerly of Elmwood, passed away peacefully at 10:38 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria.

Born July 17, 1923, in Oak Hill to Walter L. and Rilma I. (Moody) Kratzer, she married Richard Ellwood "Dick" Dailey on Sept. 5, 1942, in Peoria. He passed away on Jan. 14, 1998.

Her survivors are two daughters, Diane (John) Powell of West Peoria and Nancy Dailey of Batavia, Ill.; two sons, Ed (Donna) Dailey of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Ernie Dailey of Roswell, Ga.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Linda (Ray) Simmons of East Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ruth Grover and an infant sister.

She graduated from Elmwood High School and Browns Business College.

Betty retired from the University National Bank as bookkeeping manager in 1983.

Betty shared her mother's love of cooking with her family throughout her life and enjoyed many special moments with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was the dearest and closest friend to everyone in her family and will be eternally missed.

Burial will be in Elmwood Township Cemetery.
