Born on Jun 1, 1914 in rural Fostoria, she was the daughter of William E. and Martha (Walker) George. She attended rural schools and graduated from Wamego High School in 1932. She was united in marriage to Milford Bassett and the couple made their home in Havensville Kansas. Milford preceded her in death in 1992. Winifred was a 4-H Leader, a member of the First Christian Church of Havensville, and a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and even raised one nephew, Loran, as her own son. Winifred was employed with the Government at the Forbes Supply Depot for six years until it closed. She is survived by: her nephew, Loran George and wife JoAnn of Topeka, KS; her brother, Loyal George of Garden City, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Winifred was preceded in death by her sister, Fern Ganger, her brothers, Donald and Willis George and her infant brother.
