George Lyman Pendleton enlisted 3 Sept., 1864, in the 179th N. Y. Volunteer Infantry, served at the seige of Petersburg, and was honorably discharged 8 June, 1865. Up to 1900 he was a carpenter and builder at Athens, Pa. He retired from active business in that year, and still makes his home in that town. He has had no children.

He married on 28 March, 1867, Emily Shoemaker, dau. of Samuel Shoemaker. She died 26 August 1867. He married again on 9 March 1875, Mrs. Eliza J. (Arnold) Rogers, widow of William Rogers and daughter of Benedict and Lucy (Billings) Arnold.
