Karen Elaine (Cahill) Foster, 67, of Tonganoxie, Kan., passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2009, at the Kansas City Hospice House. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tonganoxie, Kan. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at the Chapel Hill- Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kan. The rosary will be recited at the conclusion of the visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House or Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Karen was born on February 12, 1942, in Kansas City, Kan., to Fredrick L. and Kathleen (Kennedy) Cahill. She lived in the Kansas City area all of her life. Karen graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1960. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and belonged to their Altar Society until her health no longer permitted her to do so. She enjoyed cooking for her family, and was considered as the "Neighborhood Mom". She was very well-known to everyone and always willing to lend a helping hand. Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen Reynolds. Survivors include: the father she knew growing up, Everett Reynolds; her husband of 47 years, Melvin V. Foster; son Christopher R. Foster and his wife Linda; two sisters, Beverly Swegel and Linda Golubski; brother Robert Cahill, and three granddaughters, Sydney, Alyssa, and Madisyn. She was a beloved daughter, sister, devoted wife, loving mother and grandma. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. (Arr.: Chapel Hill- Butler Funeral Home.
