Joseph W. Comella, 79, died Sunday, Oct. 8, in his Woodstock home. During World War II, Mr. Comella worked with radar equipment for the U.S. Army. He had been a test lab supervisor for Admiral television company and was a professor emeritus teaching electronics at McHenry County College. Mr. Comella was a chairman of the Mayor's Advisory Commission to the Woodstock Opera House and a past president of the McHenry County Wireless Association and the McHenry County Computer Club. He volunteered at the Dick Tracy Museum in Woodstock and the McHenry County Historical Society in Union. Survivors include his wife, Pearl; a daughter, Kathie; a son, Dave; a brother, August; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Schneider-Leucht-Merwin and Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock.
