Helen Bateman Johnson Armer, 89, of Pine Bluff, died Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Davis Life Care Center.

She was born January 1, 1920 in Pine Bluff, daughter of Will and Emily Allbright Lindley.

Mrs. Armer was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. She worked in the retail industry for many years before retiring from Hart's Shoe Store.

She was a member of Matthews Memorial Baptist Church and Eastern Star Union Chapter #40.

Mrs. Armer was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, W.H. Bateman, Fred Johnson and John Armer; three brothers, William Lindley, Ben Lindley and Tom Lindley; and sister, Emily Castleberry.

Survivors include her son, Billy Bateman of Denton, Texas; two step-daughters, Linda Reed of Rison and Judy Coke of El Dorado; step-son, Gary Armer of Wright; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and caregiver, Becky Hill of Rison.

A graveside service was held at Bellwood Cemetery with Reverend Jackie Richardson officiating. Funeral arrangements by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
