HYNDMAN, Pa. — Lloyd Robert Diehl, 76, of Hyndman, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009 at the WMHS-Braddock Campus.
Born March 6, 1933 in Pittsburgh, Pa., Mr. Diehl was the son of the late Lloyd William Diehl and Carolyn Mary (Labin) Diehl. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Diehl.
A United States Marine Corps veteran during the Korean War, Mr. Diehl retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company.
He is survived by his sons, Brian William Diehl and wife Julie, Mount Savage, Md. and Robert Russell Diehl, Tyrone, Pa.; his daughter, Cynthia "Cyndi" Lynn Swanger, Cumberland, Md.; his sister, Marilyn Dempsey of Georgia; his grandchildren, John, Natalie and Michaela Diehl, Jason and Jarred Swanger; his great-grandchildren, Mason and Beckett Swanger; and a special friend, Shirley Emerick, Stringtown, Pa.
A private committal service will be conducted at the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, Washington DC — MD Office, 1025 Connecticut Ave., NW, Suite 1005, Washington, DC 20036-4104.
