A graduate of R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton, Texas and the University of North Texas, he had worked as a Certified Internal Auditor for the U.S. Department of Justice, the Office of the Inspector General in Dallas, Texas for 26 years.
Burt and the former Donna Greenwell were married Aug. 8, 1981, in Carrollton. They have lived in Flower Mound, Texas for the past 26 years, where he was a member and elder of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Flower Mound. A ham radio operator, he enjoyed camping, woodworking, golf and gardening. He especially loved the time with his children and granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of the home in Flower Mound; three daughters, Kimberly Lynne Burton, McKinney, Texas, Vivian Leigh Burton and Samantha Jo Burton, Flower Mound; a granddaughter, Riley Lynne Haney, Lewisville, Texas; his parents, Harold and Joyce Burton Sr., Ardmore; three aunts, Peggy Heller, Ardmore, Patricia Kim, Haughton, La. and Beverly Smith, McAlester, Okla.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother, Curtis Burton, preceded him in death.
Visitation and support for the family and friends was Monday evening at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 20 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Flower Mound conducted by Rev. Frank Ehman.
