When Aaron and Elizabeth married, Aaron's brother Silas was married to Elizabeth's sister Esther, and Aaron's sister Amelia was married to Elizabeth's brother Joseph. With Elizabeth, Aaron had five children: Ira Gration (1870-1935), Levi Silas (1872-1912), Edward W. (March 1874 - Aug. 1874), Ida Elizabeth (1875-1953, 1st m. PEARL, 2nd m. MOYLAN), and Edwin Edward (1878-1879).
By 1880, two of Aaron and Elizabeth's young children had died, and Aaron and Elizabeth had divorced. Their surviving children when they divorced were Ira (10), Levi (8), and Ida (4).
Aaron attempted to take custody of his little daughter, Ida, and he was jailed for the attempt. He had custody of his daughter for only one hour before the little girl's mother had the sheriff arrest Aaron and charge him with kidnapping.

On July 26, 1905, in New York, Aaron married Mary Luella TROWBRIDGE, the daughter Levi Headly TROWBRIDGE and Harriett LANGDON, and the widow of Henry Hubble WATROUS.
In 1912, Aaron endured the drowning death of his son Levi and his grandson Walter.
