Born February 23, 1930 in St. George, Mrs. Capps was a daughter of the late Simeon Monroe Traxler and Louise Tillery Traxler.
She was valedictorian of the Eutawville High School Class of 1946, and attended Lander College.
Mrs. Capps retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a supply specialist and was a Church member of Eutawville UMC, Cherokee Place UMC, Aldersgate UMC, and Cokesbury UMC.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Harris Milton Capps, her youngest son, Robert David Capps, a brother, Sims M Traxler, and an infant sister. Surviving are sons, Harris (Frances) Capps of North Charleston, and Milton Capps of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. March 31, 2012, at Eutawville United Methodist Church with Rev. J. Peter Belec officiating. Burial will follow in the Eutawville Cemetery.
