Principal Succumbs at 62
Lois B Barnes, 62, of 58 Middle St., Florence section of Northampton, principal of Hill Institute, Florence, and trustee of Lilly Library, died Monday in Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
A Lifelong resident of Florence, she was a graduate of Northampton High School, the former Mary A. Burnham School and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Northampton Women's Club, Florence Civic and Business Association, and the Western Massachusetts Girl Scout Council.
The funeral will be Wednesday in Unitarian Church, Northampton. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Florence.
Donations may be made to the Lois Barnes Scholarship Fund, Hill Institute, in care of Barbara Jager, Florence Savings Bank, or the American Cancer Society.
