Julia Matilda Knight, 93, of Charlottesville, died Friday, October 19, 2007, at her residence.

Born August 7, 1914, in Elkton, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Bluford Hall and Bessie Frances McDaniel Hall.

She was also preceded in death by her eight sisters and brothers, Nick, Sylvia, Charlie, Mamie, Arthur, Champ, Bill, and Millie.

Julia was a seamstress in the manufacturing industry for many years and the former owner/operator of Eastham Market.

Surviving her are three daughters, Violet P. McDaniel and her companion, Richard, of Troy, Jean P. Wiebel of Charlottesville, and Elaine P. Durham and her husband, Merlin, of Earlysville; her beloved son, Fred A. (Tony) Morris of Charlottesville; eight grandchildren, Carolyn Herring of Charlottesville, Glenn Salzman of Lake Monticello, David Salzman of Keswick, Sharon Welch of Louisa, Linda Wysong of Juno Beach, Florida, Patty Harrison of Tega Cay, South Carolina, Dinah Jarrell of Charlottesville, and Lisa Himes of Palmyra; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Hall of Charlottesville.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2007, at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home, with the Reverend Betty Norford officiating. Interment will follow at the Monticello Memory Gardens.
