Services for Robert C. "Bob" Converse, 71, Lawrence, were Saturday at Lawrence Free Methodist Church. Burial followed in St. Peter Cemetery in Big Springs. Mr. Converse died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at his home. He was born Nov. 26, 1934, in Kincaid, the son of Ralph and Leta Porter Converse. He attended school in Kincaid and graduated from high school in 1952. He moved from Lone Star to Lawrence in 1988. Mr. Converse worked as a truck driver for Reuter Organ for many years. He also worked for the Kansas Turnpike, Dillons grocery stores and most recently as a driver for Crown Chevrolet. He was a member of the Abdallah Shrine and attended Lawrence Free Methodist Church. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Converse on Aug. 23, 1974. She died earlier. Survivors include three daughters, Karen S. Potter, Overland Park, Connie M. Feurt, Lawrence, and Kathy D. Boyd, Baldwin City; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Memorials to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Oncology Center, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence. Visitation Friday at the funeral home.
