STINNETT - Ben Throckmorton Sr., 73, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, in Panhandle.

Services will be at noon Saturday in First Christian Church. Burial will be in Stinnett Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

Benjamin Lee Throckmorton Sr. was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Borger to Carroll Victoria Jones and James Webb Throckmorton II. He was a retired electrician and a Mason. He married Ellen Porterfield on March 18, 1961, in Frisco, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen; two sons, Ben Throckmorton Jr. of Stinnett and Edward Throckmorton of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Virginia Hall and husband Curtis of Fritch; his mother, Caroll Throckmorton of Stinnett; a brother, James Throckmorton III of Stinnett; three sisters, Jessie Poss of Eldorado, Okla., and Grace Kaslon and Hallie Throckmorton, both of Stinnett; and four grandchildren, Lee Throckmorton of Stinnett, Bethany Johnstone and Saydee Throckmorton, both of Borger, and Ashton Hall of Fritch.

The family suggests memorials be to St. Ann's Nursing Home, P.O. Box 1179, Panhandle, TX 79068; or First Christian Church in Stinnett.

Viewing will be in Brown's Chapel in Stinnett.
