Funeral for Eva Lorine Blaxton Allen, 92, of Decatur will be Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Chapel with the Rev. Bill Compton, the Rev. Bill Lykins and the Rev. Steven Smith officiating.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Allen, who died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at NHC Healthcare of Moulton, was born July 28, 1917, in Lawrence County to Jake and Mary Elizabeth Blaxton. She was a member of Albany Baptist Church of Decatur.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She and her late husband, Buford Allen, owned and operated B.H. Allen Grocery in Decatur for 46 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Allen; her parents; two brothers, Buddy and Junior Blaxton; two sisters, Reba Hitt and Margaret Heflin.
She is survived by two sons, Windell Allen and his wife, Marie, of Decatur and Terry Allen of Hartselle; two daughters, Peggy Hughes of Decatur and Regina Smith and her husband, Steven, of Eva; one grandson, Ron Hughes and his wife, Kim, of Fayetteville, Ga.; two granddaughters, Mary Young and her husband, Howard, of Milton, Fla., and Patty Allen of Phoenix, Ariz.; one stepgrandson, Lee Carver and his wife, Krissi, of Decatur; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Hughes, Joshua Hughes, Kyle Carver and Lexey Carver; and four sisters, Jean Campbell, Helen Kimbril, Bea Bumgart and Ruby Tidwell, all of Decatur.
Pallbearers will be Steve Campbell, Lee Carver, Floyd Johnson, Jimmy Tidwell, Ricky Tidwell and Howard Young.
