Last rites Saturday
for Mrs. R.H. Daley
Mrs. Beatrice A. (Bea) Daley, aged 90, pioneer settler to Ochiltree County, died Monday at Ochiltree General Hospital.
She was born on June 9, 1889 in Ellsworth, Kansas, a city which derives its name from her family. She was the daughter of Frank and Sarah Ellsworth.
She met R. H. Daley in 1910 and the couple were married on September 14, 1913. In April 1917, two years before the city of Perryton was founded, they moved to Ochiltree County.
R. H. Daley was a farmer and later served as head bookkeeper for the Perryton Equity elevators. Later they bought a small glass business, which has grown into the present Daley's Store on SE. First Avenue. They also were owners of the old Daley Hotel. Following World War II, their sons, Phil and Garland, joined them in the operation of Daley's. Mr. Daley preceded her in death in 1971.
Mrs. Daley was a longtime and faithful member of the Perryton Business and Professional Women's Club and in 1977 was B&PW's Woman of the Year honoree. She was described at that time as "a source of strength to the organization whenever she felt there was a need." Through the years she remained active in the women's organization.
She also was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Perryton.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Jack Riley, pastor, and Dr. David Darnell, pastor of the First Christian Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers.
Surviving are two sons, Garland and Phil, both of Perryton; two sisters, Mrs. Cecelia Walter of Woodward and Mrs. Leona Brooks of Adalanto, Cal.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
