Garlen Amida Cottom, 91, of Robinson, Texas, passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial to follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at the funeral home.
Garlen was born in Beaumont, Texas, to William and Ola Hollister Cottom. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of New Road Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son, G. R. "Sonny" Cottom and wife, Janie; granddaughter, Annette Lacy; two great-grandchildren; and caregiver and special friend who he loved, Judy Witherwax; and many other friends.
