Clarence Olson passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, July 21, 2009 in Sioux Falls at Sanford Hospital. Funeral services were held on July 24 at First English Lutheran Church in Lennox. Rev. Hugh Brewer officiated.

Casketbearers were BJ Olson, Derrick
Olson, Siraj Elhassy, Dale Olson,
Dennis Davis and Glenn Roe.

Interment was in the Lennox Cemetery with Military Rites by the SD Honor Guard and Sioux Falls VFW.

Clarence William Olson was born in Esterville, IA on Nov. 30, 1935 to Martin 0. and Johanna C. (Johnson) Olson. He grew up in the Esterville area and entered the U.S. Navy in
1952. He was honorably discharged in November 1956. While serving in the Navy he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his participation in the Korean Conflict.

Clarence was united in marriage to Lois J. Bortvit on Dec.19, 1958 at the State Line Lutheran Church, Petersburg,
MN. They were blessed with 47 years of marriage and four children.

The couple lived in Estherville, IA and moved to Sioux Falls in 1964. In 1972 they moved to Lennox. He worked for
Golden Sun Feeds in Sioux Falls for over 27 years retiring in 1987. The couple then moved to Palm Springs, CA to enjoy the warm climate. They owned and operated their
own pool service and second hand furniture store. They continued to winter in the Palm Springs area and Yuma, AZ.

Lois died on Jan. 7, 2006.

Clarence was a member of First English Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the Lennox American Legion Post 9174 and past member of the Sioux Falls V.F.W.

Besides his wife and parents, Clarence was preceded in death by a brother Richard (Dick), a sister Helen and one grandchild, Jessica.

Grateful for having shared his life are his four children: Linda Elhassy, Sioux Falls, David (Kristi) Olson, Lennox, Danny (Beeky) Olson, Tea and Lorie Buus (JR.) of Sioux Falls; 11 grandchildren: B.J.(Mindy), Siraj, Boajila, Amir, Lindsay, Stacy, Derrick, Brandon, Kasey, Brandy and Ashley;
3 great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Karson and Bailey; 3 sisters and 2 brothers and special friend, Dee Klein.
