Max was survived by his wife Josefina of the home; daughter Mabel Espinoza of Española; sons: Abel of Velarde, Larquin of San Pedro, Horacio of La Mesilla, and Stephen of Albuquerque; brothers: Esequiel of Ranchitos and Reynel of Chimayó; sister Cleo Martinez of Ranchitos and Esther Montoya of Santa Cruz; 30 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
