Rufe Boone, 93, died May 13, 2001 at the Pemiscot Nursing Home in Hayti.
He was born in Gibson County, Tenn. on July 4, 1907 and was the son of the late Charley Boone and Nannie Medlin Boone.
Boone attended schools in Dyer County, Tenn and on October 10, 1925 in Trenton, Tenn., he was married to Wilma Forsythe. She preceded him in death on December 13, 1961.
On June 21, 1962 in Caruthersville, he was married to Gertrude V. Elliott. She preceded him in death on April 5, 1989. He was engaged in farming until his retirement and was also a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by one son, William Rufus Boone, one step son, Bill Tinnon, one grandchild, seven brothers, and four sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Calvin Billy Boone of Clio, Mich., Donald Lee Boone of Splendora, Tex., Phillip Wayne Boone of Magnolia, Tex.; 11 grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and several great grandchildren; one step daughter, Peggy Hedge of Houston; a special niece, Dot Hooper Frazier of Dyersburg, and also nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 15 at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Lee and Rev. David boyd officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Cemetery.
