Walter Martinusen was born in Selma, Ca., and went to be with our Lord in Fresno, Ca., after a valiant fight with brain cancer.

Walt graduated from Caruthers High School in 1959, and married his wife Janet, in 1964.

He spent his early working years on the family ranch in Monmouth farming cotton and grapes with his father, John Jacob Martinusen. He later went on to work as a truck driver for Fleming Foods for 32 years and retired in 1999, but soon returned to work again, this time as a driver for Donaghy-Budweiser until he was forced to stop working in October 2008, due to his illness.

He also served his country as a Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air National Guard for 26 years as a fighter jet mechanic. He had a very strong work ethic and instilled the same in his three sons.

Walt also shared in 44 years of marriage to his wife Janet, who also took such loving care of our dad over the last nine months. Walt's pride and joy was being "Bestefar" to his three grandchildren, with a fourth one on the way next February. He also treasured his family getaways to Shaver Lake and the coast.

A very special thanks to care partner Faviola, of Auspice Home Care Solutions for her wonderful care of our father in his last weeks of life, and also to Nancy Hinds Hospice. We are also forever grateful to Walt's oldest brother, Gil Martinusen, for his near daily visits to share conversation and naps with Dad. Many thanks also to Dr. Daniel Miller and Dr. George Molina for their expertise and care of our father.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ella Martinusen.

Walt is survived by his loving wife Janet; sons, Todd and his wife Carolyn, of Fresno, Trever and his wife Shari of Bakersfield, and Terrence and his wife Cindy of Kingburg; granddhildren, Josh, Elly, John Henry and Baby on the way; brothers, Gilbert and his wife Sandie, Bill and his wife, and Marian of Hanford; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Clovis Funeral Chapel, on Thursday, July 23, 2009, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

A Graveside Service will be held at Clovis Cemetery, on Friday, July 24, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow at Campus Bible Church in Fresno.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Nancy Hinds Hospice.
