Robert was the Irish-born husband of Ella R. (Lehman) Adair, the stepsister of my great great grandpa. He was the father of Clara, Silas, Nellie, Mary/Alice, and Russell, as well as two children who died young, Charles and Bessie. Within the family, he was known as "young Bob" to differentiate him from his father, "old Bob".

On all censuses on which he can be found, his occupation was papermaker. My Storkey family worked for WC Hamilton's paper mill, so it is very likely young Bob met his bride (a Storkey step daughter) by their shared worked there, or by living nearby each other.

He died at the age of 62, his wife following him only six months later.

Robert purchased his family lot at Leverington in 1882, which corresponds to the death of his son Charles.

Many thanks to contributor Donna for finding Robert at Leverington Cemetery.

A family birth register notes the date of birth for this Robert as occurring November 12, 1853. His death certificate states it as November 23, 1853.

The 1870 census records his family on Wissahickon Pike (as Adare) with parents Robert and Agnes and children Samuel, Anna, Ellen, Robert himself (correct age of 17), William, James, Mary and yet another James.

An 1893 city directory records him as a papermaker living at Ridge Avenue near Shawmont, right in the WC Hamilton paper mill environs. Meanwhile, his father is across town at 2915 East Venango. An 1890 directory states "Shawmont Avenue, near Ridge".
