Abraham Eyman,a native of Illinois,who has been a resident of Macon county since 1856, is no more. He died Sunday morning at his home near Harristown, in the 88th year of his life after a month of illness. He was prostrated by la grippe which caused him great bodily suffering. Death was a relief. He was one of the best known and highly esteemed resident of the western part of the county. An excellent farmer ,a staunch Republican a consistent member of the Christian church, a tender parent, a good man who will be missed in the church and in the affairs of life.

He was born in St. Clair county near Belleville,Jan.6,1803. His father was a Pennsylvanian of German descent and came to Illinois in 1795 and to Macon county in 1856, He purchased the home farm in Harristown and he put up a 2 story house and buildings. He also put out a fine grove of maples and planted fruit trees. He was the owner of 480 acres.

On Aug. 3,1826 at Belleville he married to Clarissa McGuire. The widown survives along with ten children. They are James M.,Mrs.Ella Averitt of Harristown,Mrs. Nancy O.Anderson of Genoa,Neb,Hardin H.of Fullerton,Neb,Jerome of Harristown. The deceased children are Capt.Lewis J. Eyeman of Co.E. 116th Ill,killed at the battle of Arkansas,Jan.11,1863,Edward of the same company died at Millikens Bead April 25,1863,Isaac O. died 1889.John who died in 1882 and Martha, who died in 1863. There were 21 grandchildren,four great grandchildren

The funeral will take place today with burial in the Harristown cemetery.
