WHITELAND – Last Friday morning Anthony Brunnemer died, after a lingering illness of several months, aged eighty-two years, and was buried at Greenwood in the new cemetery on Saturday. Mr. Brunnemer was a native of Alleghany county, West Virginia, but came to this county over sixty years ago. His life, like that of most early pioneers, was one of toil and hardships, but integrity and uprightness, a love of home and friends, a deep and abiding love for the church of his choice, the Methodist, were his chief characteristics. Nobly assisted in all life’s struggles by the wife of his youth, who died only a few years ago. Uncle Anthony has gone to reap the reward of a life of upright living and Christian integrity.

Anthony Brunnemer died at his home in Whiteland on Thursday night of last week, after a protracted illness. The funeral occurred Saturday morning at 10 o’clock at the M.E. church. Burial at Greenwood.

Anthony Brunnemer was born in Alleghany county, West Virginia, May 13, 1811. He was the son of George and Mary Brunnemer, both of whom were natives of Virginia. At the age of nineteen he accompanied his parents to Indiana and located in Morgan county. He was married June 5, 1834, to Miss Blanche Mitchell, a native of Tennessee. In 1859, Mr. and Mrs. Brunnemer moved to Pleasant township, this county, where Mr. Brunnemer resided until his death. Mrs. Brunnemer died July 13, 1885. Mr. and Mrs. Brunnemer were the parents of four children, Sarah J., William, Mary E., George L., all of whom are still living. The deceased was a member of the M.E. church and was a respected man whose death will be universally regretted.

The obit states he was born in Allegheny County, WV. However to my knowledge there is none such in West Virginia but there is such a county in Virginia, said county lies on the border of West Virginia.
