Norman Lee Madill, 74, Chanute, Kansas, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, at Via Christi-St. Francis Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.

He was born Jan. 22, 1931, in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Ralph C. and Ella M. (Umphenour) Madill.

He was raised in Chanute, graduating from Chanute High School in 1948.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 - 1954 during the Korean War.

On Sept. 2, 1955, he married Laurice J. Life in Chanute, Kansas. She survives.

He was a car man for the railroad for 24 years and was also a custodian for USD 413 for 10 years.

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, VFW, and American Legion.

Other survivors include two sons, Marshall L. Madill, Overbrook, KS, and Craig Madill, Topeka, KS; a daughter, Juanita J. Cummings, Chanute, KS; three brothers, Ernest Madill, Nevada, MO, and Wayne and Ralph Madill, both of Wichita, KS; a sister, Ella M. Carlburg, Bartlesville, OK; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Norma Rae.

Funeral will be Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at Otterbein United Methodist Church, led by the Rev. Frank Morgan. Burial will be in Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors conducted by Cecil J. Meeker Post #1654 VFW.

Memorials to the church may be left with the funeral home.
