Ronald L. Ballard, 70, of Ballston Avenue, was stricken suddenly June 4, 2006, on State Highway 30, Town of Mayfield, New York.

Ron was born on July 7, 1935 in Amsterdam, NY, the son of the late Cornelius and Marie Kissinger Ballard. He entered the U.S. Air Force following high school and served during the end of the Korean War. Along with his father, he owned and operated several Texaco full service stations during the late 1950's. When the businesses were later sold, he began a driving and equipment operating career with George Lewis Construction and later Venbro Industries.

Ron married the former Lillian Davis on October 27, 1968. The couple moved to Scotia in 1972. Ron was a charter member of the Thomas Corners Fire Department, serving as captain of the Fire Police. He was a member of the Gold Wing Chapter G (motorcycle) and Fulton County Antique Automobile Club. Ron retired in 1999 from Nova Bus Company and later became a security officer for Jumpin'Jack's in Scotia. He was of the Protestant faith. His wife of 37 years, Lillian J. Ballard, died on December 17,2005.

Survivors include three sons, John J. Reisigl III and his wife, Mary-Anne, of Richmond, VA, Larry A. Reisigl and his wife, Sherry, of Ballston Spa and Walter W. Reisigl and his wife, Lourdes, of Sumter, SC; one daughter, Terry L. Reisigl of Schenectady. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Ashley, Caitlin and Jody; two cherished great-grandchildren, MacKenzie and Layken; and a dear nephew, Bruce Banta.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 8, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., East Glenville. Calling hours will be at the Glenville Funeral Home Wednesday, June 7, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m.. Interment will be at Hagaman Cemetery with military honors following the religious services.
