Barbara Ann (Ward) Vargas, Atchison, KS passed away Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Shawnee Mission, KS.
Barbara was born October 25, 1937 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of William J. and Marian A. (Mann) Ward.
She married Patrick J. Vargas on August 12, 1960, he survives her.
She is also survived by her children, Maureen Vargas and (Dave), Brian Vargas, Gregg Vargas and (Brenda) all of Leavenworth, KS. Her sister, Sandra Ward, Edwardsville, IL; Grandchildren, Heather, Allen, Adelida, Kevin, John, Destiny, and Zane. Four Great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews she loved very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Kathleen Vargas.
Barbara worked 18 years for Cushing Memorial Hospital where she helped deliver and care for many babies born in the Leavenworth area.
She attended Barnes School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed fishing before an automobile accident left her disabled. She was active in genealogy and loved people and had many friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee Street., Leavenworth, KS. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2008 at the funeral
chapel. Burial will follow in the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
