He was born on February 3, 1925 to Jefferson Davis May and Abbie Jones May in Moro, Arkansas.
Robert was a self-made man who became a successful farmer in Lee County. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, always enjoying his family and he will always be remembered for his willingness to help anyone who needed it.
Loved ones surviving include his wife, Ruby Evelyn May; three sons: Bobby May and wife Brenda of Forrest City, AR; Danny May of Marianna; Roger May and wife Penne of Brickeys, AR; one daughter: Robin Mathews and husband Rodney of Sheridan, AR; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson Davis and Abbie May.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2009 in Roller-Citizens Funeral Home chapel in Marianna, with the Reverends Sean Sawyers and Gary Chapman officiating.
Burial will follow in Marianna Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the chapel.
Memorials may be made in Robert's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
