Senator Cole Dies Friday; Rites Monday

Mr. Wade M. Cole, 70, resident of Lakeshore Road died very suddenly at 1:20 p.m. Friday at the Baptist Hospital after suffering a heart attack at his home.

He had been a resident of Jackson for the past eight years, moving here from Mayersville where he owned and operated a planting interest.

He was at the time of his death a State Senator from Sharkey & Issaquena Counties and he also served two terms as a member of the House of Representatives before being elected to the Senate.

A native of Ruth, Mississippi, he was a member of Daniel Memorial Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ollie Williams Cole, Jackson; one son, Wade P. Cole of Savannah, Ga.; one daughter, Mrs. Roy Torp of Euclid, Ohio; two brothers, M. M. Cole of Little Rock, Ark. and Henry H. Cole of Bakersfield, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Will Swann of El Paso, Texas. Four grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Baldwin Funeral Chapel.

Interment will be in the Ackerman Cemetery at 2 p.m. Monday.
