BLACKSHEAR - Mrs. Gladys Buie "Boo" Burgsteiner, 79, died Tuesday evening (March 19, 2002) at the Pierce County Nursing Home, following a long illness. She was a floral designer for many years at the Blackshear Flower Shop and formerly its co-owner-operator. A native and lifelong resident of Pierce County, she was a member of First United Methodist Church and a bridge club that met weekly. Her husband, Alton Burgsteiner, died in 1978. Her parents were Daniel Herbert and Leila Riggins Buie. Also preceeding her in death were her sons, Johnny and Danny Burgsteiner, her sisters Almeda Jacques, Jean Deen and Sarah Buie, and three of her brothers, Daniel Herbert Buie Jr., Frank Buie and Bobbie Buie. She is survived by a grandson, John Daniel Burgsteiner of Blackshear; two brothers and sister-in-law, Robert and Quin Buie of Blackshear and Jack and Carol Buie of Lake Lanier; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel at Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Freddie Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in the Blackshear Cemetery. There will be visitation at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. The family will also receive friends at the Robert Buie residence, 204 Rankin Place. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, General Fund, P.O. Box 127, Blackshear, GA 31516.
