Sun Herald - March 15, 1997 - Nick P. Alex, 74, a winter resident of Village of Holiday Lakes and Port Charlotte, died March 13, 1997, at Englewood Community Hospital, Englewood, Fla. Born Jan. 18, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., he had been a winter resident of Port Charlotte for 10 years coming from Chicago. He was a produce buyer in and around Chicago. He attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Angela Alex of Port Charlotte and Chicago, Ill.; daughter, Linda S. Wissinger of New Berlin, Wis.; son, William N. Alex of Chicago Ill.; sister, Catherine Vlahakis of Clarendon Hills, Ill.; brother, John Alex of Chicago, Ill.; granddaughter, Ashely Ann Wissinger. A memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Bart Larkin officiating. Inurnment will be held in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association of Gulf Coast Florida, 2201 Cantu Court, Suite 119, Sarasota, 34232 in memory of Mr. Alex. Arrangements are by Englewood Community Funeral Home.
