US Congressman. During the Creek War 1813 to 1814, he served with General Andrew Jackson as a Captain of a mounted rifle company. In 1833, he was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third Congress and reelected as an Anti-Jacksonian to the Twenty-fourth Congress, serving until 1837. After his term, he engaged in agricultural pursuits and served as Sheriff of Grainger County, Tennessee, for several years.
