LONGMONT, CO. - Collis Edward Brinkmeyer, 89, died Sunday, August 7, 2005, at his residence.

He was born on August 14, 1915, in Chanute, Kansas, to Edward and Merle (Weaver) Brinkmeyer.

He was raised in Kansas on the family farm, graduating from Chanute High School.

He was married to Ruby Talley on Dec. 24, 1933 in Chanute, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 1994.

Shortly after their wedding, the couple moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he began management in a number of retail stores. He became a manager of a lumberyard in Kent, WA. He later moved to Fairbanks, AK, where he managed a lumberyard for the Georgia Pacific Company from 1967 to 1978, where he retired.

After retirement the Brinkmeyers returned to Washington, building a home in Camano Island.
In Feb. 15, 1997, he married Mary Ann Palmer in Camano Island, Wash. She preceded him in death in 2000.

He was a Mason, serving as past master of the Diamond Lodge #83, Black Diamond, WA. In addition, he was Nile Shriner's Grand Lodge, Mountlake Terrace, WA. He was also a member of the Kent, Washington Rotary Club.

He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and hunting.

Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Whitmore, Longmont, CO; a son, Gary Brinkmeyer, Yuma, AZ; a brother, Vernon Brinkmeyer, Chanute, KS; a sister, Jacque Cannon, Bartlesville, OK; a sister-in-law, Nadine Brinkmeyer-Burghart, Chanute, KS; six grandsons; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be Friday August 12, 2005, at Howe Mortuary Chapel, the Rev. Gary LeTourneau officiating.

The body will be cremated.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, 2594 Trailridge Drive East Suite A, Lafayette, CO 80026.
