She went by her middle name of Grace. She served as a nurse in France during World War I for which she was decorated by the French government and received a medal, which was donated to the Irvington, New York Historical Society. She was only one of about 20 nurses to receive this award. Her family said that her untimely death at age 41 was due to the fact she worked herself "to death" during that war. She and Woolsey had no children.
