Kenosha – Cordula "Cordie" Susan (nee: Burg) Brady, 95, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Alliance – Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, WI. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009.
Mrs. Brady was born in Caledonia, MN on October 12, 1913 to the late Philip and Cecilia (nee: Ernster) Burg. She lived all of her life in Caledonia, MN until moving to Kenosha, to be closer with her family, in 1998.
On July 20, 1939, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Francis Thomas Brady, who preceded her in death on November 18, 1984. Cordie owned and operated her own beauty shop in Caledonia for many years. However, her first priority in life was her treasured family.
With a profound faith in God, Mrs. Brady was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Caledonia, MN and St. Peter's Catholic Church in Kenosha. Over the years, she remained active with various church clubs and guilds, including Catholic Daughters. Cordie was also a proud member of the Marquette University Parent Board. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge, and a good social game of golf. Above all, Cordie loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family.
Surviving are her children, John (Kathleen) Brady, Jean Weissmueller, both of Milwaukee; and Ann Marie (Thomas) Venn of Kenosha; grandchildren, David (Maggie), John and Maria Brady; Anne (Eric) Dorn; Maureen (fiancé, Kyle Costello) and Mary Elizabeth Weissmueller; Kelly, John, Patrick and Margarite Venn; sister, Celesta Sullivan of Caledonia, MN; brothers, Arnold (Betty) Burg of Owatonna, MN and Al Burg of Waukon, IA; sister-in-law, Margaret Brady of Owatonna; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.
In addition to her parents and husband, Cordie was preceded in death by her sisters, Armella (Matthew) Palen and Leona (Les) Weichert; brothers-in-law, Leo Brady and Jim Sullivan; and sister-in-law, Ivona Burg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 11:00 am in St. Mary's Catholic Church (308 E. South St. Caledonia, MN). Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Caledonia, MN. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9-11 am. In memory of Mrs. Brady, memorials to the Alzheimer's Assn. or to St. Peter's Catholic Church – Kenosha has been suggested. A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Nina Kayeum, Dr. Peter Mariani, and Dr. Prakash Shah; to her dedicated caretakers Elsie Cardinahl and Patricia Bonn; and to the wonderful staff at Hospice Alliance – Hospice House for the compassionate care and support that was so graciously extended to our Mother in her time of need. May God bless all of you!
