Gertrude L. Loucks , 80, a resident of the St. Joseph's Nursing Home, formerly of Rensselaer Street, Heuvelton, died Friday at the nursing home.
Mrs. Loucks was employed in the Heuvelton Central School cafeteria for 12 years before taking a position at Wadhams Hall Seminary-College, Ogdensburg, where she retired in 1986 after 12 years.
Born Oct. 20, 1926, in East Prussia, Germany, daughter of Richard and Luise Juden Wysske, she attended schools in Germany and worked as a nurse's aide and as a nanny for wealthy families before marrying.
She married Howard J. Loucks on July 5, 1948, at First Presbyterian Church, Potsdam. The couple moved to Heuvelton in 1954.
Mrs. Loucks was a member of the Presbyterian Women and the Brockville German Club. She enjoyed watching "The Lawrence Welk Show," listening to German music and collecting porcelain dolls and M.I. Hummel figurines. She also took pleasure in dancing, gardening, animals, baking, going to the beach and entertaining family and friends.
Surviving besides her husband, of Heuvelton, are two sons and their wives, three daughters and two sons-in-law, two sisters, a brother, seven grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Two brothers, Horst and Karl Wysske, died before her.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fox-McLellan Funeral Home with Leroy Lewandowski and the Rev. Terry R. LaValley co-officiating. Entombment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.
