On Thursday, August 31, 2017, Della went home to Heaven to be with, as she frequently told her family, her "one true husband".
Della was born in East Saint Louis, IL, on June 6, 1920, to Rufus Duff and Flora Ann (Crider) Williams.
She was the oldest of their six children. She was married to Clemens Phillip Ahrens on September 7, 1940, in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death in May of 1977.
She was also preceded in death by three siblings, Elisha Norman Williams, Hubert Milton Williams, and Virginia Elenora Denny.
She is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Nadine Houston of Magalia, CA, and Helen Josephine Littleton (Marvin) of Jacksonville.
Della was known to her many nieces and nephews as Aunt Dee Dee. She loved and spoiled each of them. She loved to sing and play the harmonica. She always worked hard in her church, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. Della was a good friend to all she encountered. She lived at Knollwood Retiriment Village for the past seven years, where on any given week, you could find her organizing her friends to sing and praise the Lord.
A memorial service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at Community Christian Church in Jacksonville. A time of fellowship will follow the service. Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is assisting the family.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.

NOTE: Even though obit does not state it, I have placed her in the cemetery with her first husband, as her name is already on the tombstone. Therefore her name is Ahrens on this memorial, per Find A Grave guidelines.
