Jesse H. Wolf was born as the seventh child of the Major and the second child by his second wife Elizabeth (Lantz) Sanders Wolf. Jesse's mother was born in Ohio and his parents were married in Batesville, AR, 8 Jan 1824.

From Warren Wolf's notes, it is learned that Joseph Crunkleton one of the pioneer mill men of North Arkansas built for Jesse Wolf the first sawmill in that section of the state. It was run by water power instead of circle-saw that is of later date. Jesse used a saw that worked perpendicularly and the builder of the sawmill stated that it was one of the best paying sawmills that he ever built. It is thought that Jesse Wolf also inherited his father's ability with the blacksmith trade. An anvil he made is in possession of a descendant of Jessie Belle Hargrave Green.

Jesse Wolf is thought to have taken possession (lived in) of the Wolf house after the death of his father in 1863. No document has been traced to his ownership of the house, but a marriage certificate of Jesse's daughter, Mary Arkansas Wolf, who married Ezekiel Newton Osborne states that they were married on 4 Aug 1878 at the residence of Jesse H. Wolf in what is commonly known to family members as the Wolf House.
Jesse H. Wolf served in the Confederate States Army with the 14 Arkansas Infantry as a Private in Company I. However, in the Civil War records, this company is really listed as Fristoe's Regiment Missouri Cavalry. The Arkansas group merged with that group two weeks after their formation, but Jesse's papers were never transferred so in the archives he is just listed under Fristoe.

There is a paper listing the Jesse H. Wolf estate in 1900 and witnessed by Frederick Talburt.

The Jesse H. Wolf Family Bible is in the possession of Ruby Wolf Lack's grandson.

Jesse H. Wolf departed this life with not much known about him. His daughter Annie Lee Wolf Morton gave birth to a daughter 24 Jan 1896. Jesse went to see his new grandchild and asked permission to name her. Permission was granted and he named her Nancy, presumedly after her grandmother and his first wife Nancy Jane Hargrave Wolf. This incident was related to me by Jane Morton Head, an older sister to that baby, Nancy Modera Morton Flippin.

In Warren Wolf's notes, he refers to Jesse's daughter Annie Lee as being at the home of her Uncle Martin Jefferson Wolf when her mother Nancy Jane Hargrave Wolf died. It is known that she lived with her Uncle for several years before she married.

Emma Maude Wolf, also a younger child at the death of her mother, was taken in by her sister, Mary Akansas Wolf Osborne.

Family history says thatJesse's first wife, Nancy Jane Hargrave could be buried in the John Pierce Wolf Family Cemetery near what was known as McPhearson, AR, and it also indicates that his second wife, Jane Kellough Luther Wolf, is buried there. There was a CSA monument honoring Jesse H. Wolf placed in the old Wolf Cemetery at Norfork, AR as no burial place has ever been determined.
