From NYS Adj.-Gen. report 1903: "Blackman, Foster J. [sic] - Age, 23 years. Enlisted, July 22, 1862, at Norwich, [Chenango Co., NY,] to serve three years; mustered in as private, Co. B, [114 NYSV,] August 4, 1862; promoted corporal, December 22, 1863; wounded in action, September 19, 1864, at Opequon [Winchester], Va.; mustered out with company, June 8, 1865, at Washington, D.C.; also borne as James F."
1st wife: Mary Elizabeth (Wolcott), m. 1860. Whereabouts unk.
2nd wife: Ellen (Lewis), M. 1872. Presumably divorced.
3rd wife: Katherine (Hutchison), m. 1880. Died at age 24.
4th wife: Mary Adeline (Hunter), m. 1885. Died 1910.
