Cookie was born March 31, 1916, to William and Eva (Dawson) Howard in Hennessey, Oklahoma. She was married to Robert A. Leinbaugh in LaJunta, Colorado, on Christmas day, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1985. She was a homemaker and farm wife for many years of her life. She was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Guild, Order of Eastern Star Gardner Chapter 374 of Lost Nation, UPW, Homemakers, Guys & Dolls, and Hearthstone. She enjoyed sewing and made most of her girl's clothes. After their retirement, Bob and Cookie loved traveling in their mini home. She loved to be on the go and rarely turned down an opportunity to have fun. She cherished time with her family. She was a cute little Cookie Mom with the sweetest smile.


Those left to honor her memory are daughters, and sons-in-law: Carol and Keith Welch of Lost Nation, Sue and Allen Fields and Linda and Gary Van Hese, both of Davenport. They were the loves of her life along with her grandchildren, Nancy Orloski (Mike), Melanie Neuendorf (Rob), Steve Welch(Carmen), Melissa Mast (Andy), Eric Van Hese (Julie), and Evenstar Van Hese, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Ihlo Faye (Ray) Einhouse, three nieces and a nephew.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, granddaughter Karen, parents, one sister, two brothers, and a niece.


Drucilla "Cookie" Leinbaugh, 93, after a full life, went home to her God, her husband and her granddaughter on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Iowa Masonic Home in Bettendorf.


The family is grateful to Heartland Hospice, Bickford Cottage and Iowa Masonic Home for their loving care.
